I believe that adventure is the key to a life well-lived.

Storyteller, grammar nerd, strategic schemer, design addict, branding guru,
lover of language, perpetual student of life and other interesting topics,
outdoorswoman, Oxford comma advocate, devourer of stories (books, films,
and Netflix binges), beer aficionado, livin’ that #MountainLife.

My sense of adventure keeps me wanting to always learn and try new things, and as a result, I have quite a range of interests and experiences.

My formal education is primarily in the areas of journalism and public relations. I graduated from Wartburg College in May 2014 with a B.A. in writing with a journalism concentration and minors in public relations and French. While at school, I wrote for Wartburg’s newspaper, The Trumpet; Wartburg’s online multimedia news source, The Circuit; and the by-students-for-students magazine, Axiom. My published articles can be found under the “Writing and Media” tab at the top of the page.

LightbulbToday, I work as the Membership Coordinator for the Obesity Medicine Association, an association for medical professionals who work in the field of obesity medicine. We provide continuing medical education (CME) with a focus on the medical treatment of obesity, and also offer a membership component; physicians and other health care professionals can become members and receive exclusive access to a variety of benefits and resources. I manage the membership components, including community management, membership growth, and member retention.

I am also involved with Gociety, a social network where outdoorsy folks can connect with other adventurous individuals in their area. I regularly contribute to the Gociety blog, and am a Gociety Pathfinder (essentially, a super-engaged member who helps spread the word about the wonderful world of Gociety across a variety of platforms).

BooksWhile in college, I worked as an Editorial and Production Intern for Perfection Learning, an educational publishing company in Des Moines, IA. I did a variety of public relations and marketing work on campus as well; these projects include work for the student-run PR firm on campus, the study abroad office, and for other student-run organizations. Learn more about my coursework and internships here.

The “Design Work” tab contains files of design pieces I’ve created for a variety of jobs and projects.
